Goal Setting

Many people at this time of year say to themselves it’s time to get fitter and healthier.

That’s great but then what do you do?

You need to create a vision of how you want your health and fitness to look and feel. Once you have this you can set long and short terms goals so that vision can be realized.

There are a few rules when is comes to goal setting…

The SMART Formula for goal setting is a great way to ensure your goals are achievable.

S – Specific

M- Measureable

A- Attractive

R- Realistic

T- Time-framed.

It is also important to set achievable weekly goals, monthly goals and 3 monthly goals.

The more thought you put into this stage of embarking on a new fitness and health regime the higher the chance of success.

If your 3 month vision was:

“I am going to be exercising 4 times a week and drinking alcohol only once a week.”

Your first weekly goals may be:

“ I will walk 3 times this week for 30 minutes”

“ I will research training facilities convenient to work and home”

“ I will have 3 alcohol free days this week.”

So don’t just think about getting fitter and healthier, visualize how you want to be and set realistic goals to get there.

Good luck.
